Winter is coming again and that is why the Province of North Holland is removing the salt spreaders, snow plows and gritters from the shed again. A fleet review was held in Hoofddorp this morning and a new spreader is also presented.

All truck drivers are also gathering again. “When you see all those people and trucks together, it starts to itch again. Then I feel like going again,” says Michel Hofland, coordinator of ice control at the Province of Noord-Holland.

The new spreading machines will also be put into use from the new season. “Most of it is automatic, so it does become a lot easier. A bus stop is automatically sprinkled, and even if you turn left or right, it also takes those bends along,” explains Hofland. The new machines are also a lot more environmentally friendly than the manual spreaders. The automatic gritters consume less salt, “that’s really an improvement.”
