Grimes’ daughter “Y”: curiosity and the eternal question about the right name

Singer Grimes has given a new name to her surrogate daughter with Elon Musk. On Twitter last Friday she shared a photo of the child and herself in a partner look. A Grimes fan account then wrote out her previously known nickname, “Sailor Mars”, apparently out of joy to see the one and a half year old. This allusion to the anime “Sailor Moon” and Musk’s project to colonize the red planet has probably become common in place of the birth name Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. However, the child also became Y [ˈwaɪ]called – to be taken from another tweet by the singer, now also with her real name.

She’s Y now, or “Why?” or just “?” (But the government won’t recognize that). curiosity, the eternal question, .. and such.

But the 35-year-old, maybe with Musk, maybe without him, apparently wanted to go one step further and leave all the letter logic of conventional names behind. “She is now Y, or ‘Why’ or just ‘?’ (But the government doesn’t accept that), curiosity, the eternal question, .. something like that.” Great expectations, then.

The naming joins the previous history of unusual names in the Grimes-Musk house. Her approximately two-year-old son is named X Æ A-12. Nickname “X”. Grimes referred to herself as “C” in this tweet – after her real name Claire Boucher – she often calls the Twitter CEO simply “E”.

The sixth album by the avant-garde pop musician, entitled BOOK 1, is scheduled for release in 2023. However, in an interview last year, she also spoke of wanting to withdraw from the music industry in the medium term. The two singles have existed since the release of their current record MISS ANTHROPOCENE “Player Of Games” and “Shinigami Eyes”.
