There has just been a confrontation between groups of hooligans near the station in Alkmaar. Insiders say that it concerns supporters of AZ and Cambuur against FC Groningen and West Ham United. The Alkmaar team will play the return of the match against the latter club tonight conference league semi-finals.

Various images on social media and in the hands of NH show people dressed in black walking on Stationsstraat. Around the corner is the AZ supporters bar. You hear that they also chant ‘Alkmaar hooligans’.
In front of all people, that group stormed to another. Gardens were also said to have been searched for stones. At least one person can be seen with a bloody face. “Fucking wanker”, is shouted at him.
According to one of the filmers, there were no police to be seen in any fields or roads. A spokesman for the police informed NH that there was indeed an agent who called for reinforcements.

When the police got out of the cars at the station, the hooligans had already fled. The spokesman could not confirm whether they were hooligans from the aforementioned clubs. No one has been arrested.
In other parts of Alkmaar, such as the city center, more and more police can be seen. The supporters of AZ and West Ham United from London have separate fan zones.
