Greuther Fürth has continued the upward trend in the 2nd Bundesliga. However, harmless people from Osnabrück didn’t make life particularly difficult for the people of Fürth. Greuther Fürth scored their first two goals in the 4-0 (1-0) win against VfL Osnabrück at pretty fitting moments: Julian Green (45th) scored shortly before half-time, Armindo Sieb (47th) shortly afterwards. With Dickson Abiama’s 3-0 win (74th), things were over – then Tim Lemperle (76th) added more.
Newly promoted Osnabrück remains winless away from home. Coach Tobias Schweinsteiger’s team is stuck in second-to-last place in the table with six points. The Middle Franconians, on the other hand, climbed into the top half of the table with their fourth home win of the season.
Fürth dominates, Osnabrück hardly makes an appearance
VfL started defensively compactly, left more of the game to the home team and hardly appeared offensively. But the cloverleaf also initially lacked creativity – and then precision. After Simon Asta was brought down by Osnabrück’s Dave Gnaase in the penalty area, captain Branimir Hrgota (22′) missed from the penalty spot.
But then Green was there, once again. The midfielder had already scored 1-0 in the last meeting, in January 2021 at the Bremer Bridge – the final score at the time. The 2-0 result thanks to an unstoppably deflected shot from Sieb immediately after the restart was the early preliminary decision.
Practically nothing came offensively from Osnabrück. And the defense also proved to be unsuitable for the second division when conceding goals three and four.
