Gardeners’ organization Greenport Noord and entrepreneurs’ organization Ondernemend Emmen want to jointly strengthen the position of horticulture in Southeast Drenthe.
“We are discovering more and more shared challenges if we want to maintain a strong regional economy,” says Herman Idema, director of Ondernemend Emmen. “To name a few: the energy transition, knowledge, personnel. That’s where we can help each other and really work together.”
Greenport Noord and Ondernemend Emmen also hope to make gains in other areas. This concerns, for example, research into smart technology, automation and robotization.
Idema: “You see that knowledge of these types of processes is often very similar. Then you can, for example, take training courses together. The regional MBO courses and NHL-Stenden University of Applied Sciences can also play a role in this. And possibly also the National University.”
