The end for Groen Geel in the Korfball League is getting closer. The korfball players from Wormer lost 14-21 at home to their direct competitor KCC. Due to the defeat, Mady Tims’ team drops to last place. “This loss actually means that you will be relegated immediately, so that will take some time,” said coach Mady Tims afterwards.
From the start, Groen Geel was confronted with the facts. At halftime the team was already behind 13-7. At that time, Thomas Schagen was the top scorer with two goals. In the second half KCC increased to 14-21. “I don’t think there is any more in it. It’s a bit over,” Tims was disappointed afterwards.

Fanny van Heuvelen (three) and Jasper de Leeuw (three) scored the most goals in total. Yet they could not avert defeat for Groen Geel. The loss sees them drop to last place in the Korfball League.
The team from Wormer still has two games to go against KZ and PKC, both of which are at the top. “Unfortunately, we were not able to make it happen. Perhaps a miracle is still possible, but otherwise we will take a step back,” said captain Hidde Pettinga afterwards.
