Green light for the expansion of the Gran Via 2 Shopping Center in L’Hospitalet

The municipal plenary session of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelonès) gave this Wednesday, September 27, his ‘ok’ to the expansion of the Gran Via 2 shopping centerlocated in the southern part of the city, near the border with Barcelona.

The Hospitalense City Council thus approved, provisionallythe specific modification of the general metropolitan plan in the discontinuous area formed by the shopping center; for him Bellvitge Directional Complex and different municipal plots in the neighborhoods of Bellvitge and Les Planes (Calle de la Ermita de Bellvitge, 40; Calle de El Prat, 40; Calle de San Rafael, and Avenida de Isabel la Católica, 66-68).

The first deputy mayor and councilor for Urban Planning and Finance, Fran Belver, explained in the plenary session that the Bellvitge and Les Planes plots are land owned by the City Council but in which, due to their location and conditions, “buildability cannot be developed”.

For this reason, Bellver continued, “we take him from where he is to Gran Via 2, which does not increase its plot perimeterbut it allows you to increase your land and allows the City Council to incorporate 11.8 million euros in revenue”.

Thus, with this operation, the commercial ceiling is expanded of Gran Via 2 in 9,100 m2. As compensation, the municipal coffers will receive those 11.8 million euros as use. The operation had the positive votes of PSC and ERC, the abstentions of PP and Vox and the vote against En Comú Podem.

ERC explained that its positive vote was because it had already been agreed that a part of this money would be allocated to the rehabilitation of two buildings protected from the city’s heritage: 6 million in the main building project Cosme Todo, and 1.6 million in the Bellvis Castlewhich is now in a preliminary phase of archaeological identification.

The rest, 4.2 million, will be obligatorily allocated to the municipal land assets, among others, to the purchase of housing via the trial and withdrawal option, so that the scarce pool of funds can be expanded. public housing of which the city consists.
