Tallon Grepes was too strong for fellow Dutchman Gijs Brouwer tonight. In the quarterfinals at the ABN Amro tournament in Rotterdam, the Nieuw-Venneper was too strong for Brouwer after two sets: 6-4, 6-4. Greek track is the first Dutchman to reach the semi-finals since 2014.
Both players received a wild card from Richard Krajicek for the tournament and they live up to that. Previously, the Greek track was the favourite, as he is 99 places higher in the world ranking than Brouwer (160).
However, the Nieuw-Venneper had to get going against the Venhuizer. In the first set it remained even until the Greek track struck at 5-4. The same was true for the second set. He was merciless in the decisive game and won the last set.

The Greek track needed one break in both sets. The North Hollanders were evenly matched in terms of score, but the Greek track was better than Brouwer at the crucial moments. In the semi-finals, the Greek track will play against Jannik Sinner. The Italian defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in his quarterfinals.
Brouwer can look back on a good tournament. He first surprisingly defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler and Holger Rune. Although the latter gave up when trailing in the second set.
