Greek tennis player Tsitsipas to final after victory over Medvedev
Stefanos Tsitsipas is in the final of the Cincinnati tournament. The Greek, placed fourth, defeated world number 1 Daniil Medvedev 7-6 (6) 3-6 6-3. In the final battle he will meet Borna Coric, the Croat who eliminated the British Cameron Norrie: 6-3 6-4.
Tsitsipas surprised the Russian with an attacking game. He came to the net no less than 36 times and made 27 points. The Greek survived a set point in the tiebreak of the first set and trailed 5-0 in the second set. In the third set, he left Medvedev fairly without a chance.
Coric showed that he is getting in better shape after shoulder surgery. He hit 22 winners against Norrie. Earlier in the tournament, the Croat was also responsible for the elimination of Rafael Nadal and Félix Auger-Aliassime.
