After three and a half years, Alba Berlin has guided the Icelander Martin Hermannsson back to the capital.
As the eleven-time champion of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) announced on Wednesday evening, the point guard is moving from Spanish EuroLeague competitor Valencia Basket Club to the Spree. Hermannsson, who played for Berlin from 2018 to 2020, has now signed a contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.
“He is a great reinforcement for our team,” said sports director Himar Ojeda: “Martin is an experienced point guard who will help us on the court, but can also take on a mentorship role for our young development players.”
Hermannsson has played in 111 competitive games for Alba so far, and in his second season with the Berliners he won the championship and BBL Cup double. The Icelandic international, who tore his cruciate ligament in June 2022, has only rarely played at Valencia recently.
