Great interest in rapper Bigidagoe’s funeral, ‘also online’

The funeral of the shot rapper Bigidagoe attracted a large audience on Saturday. The funeral planner reports that about five to six hundred people came to the farewell meeting in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. There was also a lot of interest in the funeral online. According to the funeral planner, around 27,000 people followed the ceremony via a live stream, “which caused the server to fail at one point”.

According to the funeral planner, the farewell took place ‘in peace’. The police also report that the ceremony and funeral took place without incident. As a precaution, there was a large police presence, but everything remained under control during the ceremony and there were no unusual incidents to report, the police said.

During the funeral there was room for speeches, prayers and music. The rapper also received thunderous applause from those present. The mourners were given the opportunity to pay their last respects to Bigidagoe during the funeral service. The coffin was then taken to its final resting place, at the Westgaarde cemetery. According to the funeral planner, fireworks were set off there. By early evening the funeral was over.

26-year-old Danzel Silos, as the rapper is really called, was shot dead on Sunday at a party center on the Rhoneweg in Amsterdam-Sloterdijk. A 20-year-old Amsterdam resident was arrested at an airport in Paris on Wednesday for involvement in the shooting. The suspect allegedly wanted to flee to French Guiana.
