“Great”: Dennis Schröder makes his debut for the Toronto Raptors

World champion Dennis Schröder returned to the basketball court exactly four weeks after the coup in Manila and enjoyed his debut for the Toronto Raptors. “It felt great to be out there with my new teammates, getting to know them while playing,” said the NBA professional from Braunschweig after the 112:99 win against the Sacramento Kings.

The national team captain moved from the Los Angeles Lakers to Canada this summer. In his first appearance, Schröder was part of the starting line-up and recorded six points and five assists in a good 17 minutes of playing time. Gary Trent Jr. was the Raptors’ top pitcher (22).

Schröder flew to Canada last week to begin preparations. “The training camp in Vancouver was great,” said the point guard looking back. The second of four tests against the Cairns Taipans from Australia continues on Sunday. To start the season, Toronto will face the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on October 25th.
