The 64-year-old is being treated for a bacterial infection.
Due to a bacterial infection, Madonna had to be admitted to the intensive care unit in a New York hospital on Saturday (June 24). This was reported by Page Six. She was previously found unconscious in her New York apartment.
A statement from her manager Guy Oseary on Wednesday said: “On Saturday 24 June, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to her being in intensive care for several days.”
She was said to have been intubated there for at least one night. At her bedside: daughter Lourdes.
The all clear was later given – Oseary wrote in an Instagram post: “Her health is improving but she is still receiving medical attention. A full recovery is expected.” The post was filled with well wishes from fans and celebrities alike, including actresses Rita Wilson, Zooey Deschanel and Evan Rachel Wood.
At the same time, it was announced that the 64-year-old had to reschedule her “Celebration” tour, which was due to start in Vancouver on July 15. After a tour through the USA, Madonna should also come to Europe in autumn – including for two dates each in Cologne and Berlin – but there is currently no update on these dates.
Her most recent Instagram post appeared last Wednesday (June 21) and is titled “The Calm before the Storm”:
