The football AG of the traditional Zurich club Grasshopper Club has become the property of Los Angeles FC. The GC Zurich will become part of the LAFC’s global vision, it says on the Swiss website. The Californians now own 96.5 percent of the shares, as Grasshopper Vice President Andras Gurovits explained at a press conference on Wednesday evening, according to the newspaper “Blick”. Nothing was initially known about the amount of the purchase price. In recent years, the club has had an annual deficit in francs in the double-digit million range.

LAFC also recently invested in FC Wacker Innsbruck and last year started a partnership with FC Bayern Munich to better promote talent in South America or Africa, for example. When the GC is taken over, a minority stake will remain with the Grasshopper Football Foundation. Previously, Fußball AG was majority owned by the Chinese Jenny Wang for around four years.
