Granit Xhaka from Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen has been voted Swiss National Player of the Year for the third time.
Last year, Xhaka became the only Swiss national record player. The 31-year-old professional footballer has now played 121 international matches for the Swiss.
For Xhaka, it is the third award as Footballer of the Year after 2017 and the previous year, although this time he was somewhat surprisingly able to prevail over ex-BVB star Manuel Akanji, who triumphed with Manchester City in the Champions League, among other things.
