In Nieuw-Weerdinge, two people were released unharmed when someone tried to defraud them through bank card fraud. The Nieuw-Weerdingers were called by someone who said he was from the bank with the announcement that their bank cards would no longer work properly.
To be able to solve the ‘problem’, the bank would send an intern that evening to collect the cards. The Nieuw-Weerdingers did not trust the strange telephone call and then called their grandson.
The grandson sat in the house and waited for the ‘trainee’ to come by. At 8 p.m., a 16-year-old teenage girl rang the bell. She wanted to pick up the passes.

The grandson made a civilian arrest and then called 112. The girl was arrested by the police and transferred to the detention center in Assen.
Police have searched the area for co-defendants, but have not found them.
