There is a chance that no Grand Prix motocross will be held in Oss this year. Although there is a five-year contract between organizer Top Events and the municipality, the event will not take place on March 27. The reason is that there are problems with the permit due to changed rules. A solution is being sought.
Not the corona pandemic, noise pollution or the large numbers of spectators, but the breeding season for the birds is one of the problems that the organization is encountering this year. Due to changed rules, the municipality of Oss cannot issue a permit for an MXGP on the De Witte Ruysheuvel site in March.
Not finished yet
The event is not quite over yet. An alternative could be a different location or a different time of the year. For example, the date of September 18 is still free on the motocross calendar.
“We are and will continue to talk with the municipality of Oss and hope for a solution,” says organizer Ebert Dollevoet of Top Events. “The discussions are constructive and everyone is doing their utmost at the municipality. As soon as there is more news, we will report it.”
In July last year, Oss was on the program again after many years after driving in Valkenswaard many years before. It was the first in a row of five GPs that the Brabant company Top Events agreed with the promoter Infront from Monaco and for which the municipality of Oss also signed a contract.
With or without Herlings
During the event in Oss, stars from Brabant such as Jeffrey Herlings, Glenn Coldenhoff and Roan van den Moosdijk came into action. Herlings broke his shoulder blade, but later won the world title. So it remains to be seen whether the reigning world champion can again be admired in Oss this year.
