Singer Olivia Rodrigo has been nominated for a total of seven Grammy Awards this year, making her one of the favorites at the ceremony. In an interview with People Magazine, Rodrigo recalled seeing Beyonce’s iconic performance of “If I Were A Boy” at the 2010 Grammy Awards and being quite inspired by the moment.
“There’s this video of Beyoncé doing ‘If I Were a Boy’ at the Grammys and I remember watching it like 25 times because I was so in love with her,” she said. “It’s so crazy that maybe one day a younger girl will see my performance many times and think it’s cool. This is the dream. That’s all I want.”
It is very likely that this dream will come true for Rodrigo next Sunday, as she is planned as a performance act at the award ceremony. Here’s Beyoncé’s performance:
Despite Grammy nominations, the 19-year-old doesn’t seem to be sitting back. She recently released her documentary Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U, which tells the story behind her #1 album Sour, on Disney+. In addition, she is already preparing for the tour for her album “singing while running on a treadmill”, which is due to be released in the summer.
