Wet Leg won a Grammy for their remix of Depeche Mode’s “Wagging Tongue.”
Depeche Mode were at least a little happy at the 2024 Grammy Awards. No, Gahan & Co. were not awarded a Grammy Award themselves – this honor is still a long time coming. But at least: a remix of one of her pieces won an award.
British indie duo Wet Leg won the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for their remix of the Depeche Mode song “Wagging Tongue.” The piece was originally released on the album “Memento Mori” in 2023. This is already the third Grammy for Wet Leg, who thanked Gahan & Co. in their speech – in 2023 they won in the categories “Best Alternative Music Album” and “Best Alternative Music Performance”
Depeche Mode still without a Grammy
Depeche Mode themselves remain grammy-free. The band has already been nominated for one of the coveted trophies five times, but in the end the synth-pop icons never won. “Memento Mori” was not even considered in the nominations. Depeche Mode’s last Grammy nomination was 14 years ago.
Grammys 2024: The winners
Phoebe Bridgers took home the most Grammys that evening: she shared three of them with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker from her band Boygenius. SZA, Killer Mike, Victoria Monét and the “Barbie” soundtrack also received three awards each. Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift were also happy: they each received two trophies.
