Purple Disco Machine won the Best Remix Recording category at the 65th Grammy Awards on February 5th. He was recognized for his remix of Lizzo’s About Damn Time.
The actor Myles Frost presented the award to the native of Dresden. He almost accepted the Grammy on his behalf, because the DJ and producer almost missed his performance. He was too overwhelmed to get up straight away and go to the stage, he said in an interview after the award ceremony. You can see how he is doing with the Grammy here in the video:
He thanked his team and his wife Sabrina. He did not expect the award because the category was heavily occupied. He prevailed against Terry Hunter, Paul Woolford and the Belgian rock band Soulwax.
Purple Disco Machine, whose real name is Tino Piotek, grew up in the former GDR. He has been producing songs since 1996, and in 2009 he released his first album FOOLS PLANET under his old pseudonym Stereofunk. His greatest musical successes include “Hypnotized” with Sophie and the Giants, “Fireworks” feat. Moss Kena & The Knocks and “Dopamine” feat. eyelar.
