Beyoncé leads the list of nominees at the 2023 Grammy Awards, just ahead of Kendrick Lamar. The singer has been nominated nine times, Lamar eight times. In third place are Adele and Brandi Carlile with seven nominations each. The 2023 Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 6th at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Beyoncé was able to draw level with her husband Jay-Z in the total number of nominations: Last year, he had reached the top position as the most-nominated act in history with a total of 83 Grammy nominations at the time. He was nominated five times for 2023, now both are tied in the overall list with 88 nominations.
Beyoncé’s new record RENAISSANCE was nominated for Album of the Year, along with “Break My Soul” for Song of the Year and Record of the Year (the first category honors songwriting, the second for recording and performance), among others.
Kendrick Lamar was among others for MR. MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS nominated for Best Album and “The Heart Part 5” for Best Song and Best Recording. Adele was nominated in the same categories for the album 30 and the song “Easy On Me”, Brandi Carlile among others for IN THESE SILENT DAYS for best album and the song “You and Me on the Rock” (with a feature by Lucius) as Record of the Year.
Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, Future, The-Dream and mastering engineer Randy Merrill each received six nominations. Styles was nominated for the album HARRY’S HOUSE and the song “As It Was” among others. Other nominees in the main categories include Coldplay, Lizzo, ABBA, Doja Cat and Bad Bunny.
Among the nominees for best rock song are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The War on Drugs and Ozzy Osbourne with Jeff Beck, while the Black Keys and Idles were nominated for best rock album. The Best Alternative Album category features Arcade Fire, Big Thief, Björk, Wet Leg and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. here you can find the full list of nominees.
