Grace Wales Bonner will be guest designer at the 102nd edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo.
The English-Jamaican fashion designer will present her label Wales Bonner’s SS23 collection at the Florence menswear fair, organizer Pitti Immagine Srl announced on Thursday. She will show the collection in the form of a fashion show – at an as yet undisclosed location.
“We have known Grace Wales Bonner’s work since her debut and are particularly intrigued by her cultural sensitivity and multidisciplinary approach, evident in her collaborations with artists and fellow stylists and reflected in each of her collections” , said Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine’s Communication & Special Events Director.
About Grace Wales Bonner
After graduating from Central Saint Martins, she founded her own label in 2014. In 2015 she received the Emerging Menswear Designer award at the British Fashion Awards. In 2016 she was awarded the LVMH Young Designer Prize. She was also named the 2019 British Fashion Council/ Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Winner and collaborated with Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri on the French fashion house’s Resort 2020 collection. Last year she was named CFDA International Men’s Designer of the Year. In addition to her work as a designer, she heads the fashion design department at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
“We then followed the evolution of their menswear concept, the gradual refinement of the elegant clothing structure with the development of fashion design and sportswear elements, a style that, borrowed from the world of music, you could even call soul…” so Cianchi.
