City hall raises flag
The Ukrainian flag was also hoisted on the city hall of Maastricht on Friday morning. “It is of course terrible what is happening. I think it is good that we think about it and I think that we all sympathize with the Ukrainians, including in our city and in the province,” Mayor Annemarie Penn-te Strake told L1 on Thursday. .
Other cities
In other places in the Netherlands too, cities show their solidarity with Ukraine. For example, the Ukrainian flag was raised in Amsterdam and The Hague. The Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam turned blue-yellow on Thursday evening. “Do not hesitate to call on us for further support. Rotterdam stands behind the Ukrainian people in this difficult time,” Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb wrote in a letter.
