A first edition of the Venetië film festival will take place after a winnaar: the documentaries All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, over photographer Nan Goldin and hair strijd tegen een steenrijke farmafamilie. Laura Poitras is de derde vrouw in evenveel jaar tijd die de Gouden Leeuw wint.

De concurrentie was also not min: No Bears Van der Gedetineerde Iranian director Jafar Panahi had promoted him to the last day of the festival as a favourite. Poitras also films Goldin’s main family of the Steenrijke Sackler family, who with the needs of Purdue Pharma are responsible for the devastating opiate crisis that occurred in the VS just as much as they helped millions of lives.
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed jumps heen en weer tussen heden en verleden.
