Göttingen ends series of bankruptcies in the BBL

Basketball Bundesliga club BG Göttingen has returned in the race for home advantage in the playoffs for the four best main round teams.

Lower Saxony ended their series of bankruptcies after three games in a regional duel with fourth-placed EWE Baskets Oldenburg with a 106:97 (85:85, 42:48) after extra time and moved closer to the guests and the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in sixth place.

Oldenburg, on the other hand, missed the opportunity to increase their lead over their pursuers after their fourth consecutive defeat behind the leading trio of champions and leaders Alba Berlin, the Telekom Baskets Bonn and the cup winners Bayern Munich, who had already qualified for the finals.

Harald Fey was Göttingen’s most accurate thrower with 21 points, while Javon Bess and Mark Smith had 20 points. DeWayne Russell could not prevent the recent setback with a strong 25 points on the Oldenburg side. Alen Pjancic scored 14 points for the Baskets.
