Gose as the fastest in the 200 m semifinals

13 hours after her silver race in the 800 m freestyle, Isabel Gose confidently made it into the semi-finals over 200 m at the European Swimming Championships in Rome as the fastest.

The 20-year-old from Magdeburg was satisfied after 1:59.17 minutes in the rain. “I had little sleep, but now I’m confident,” she said: “The time is not bomb, but I swam a controlled race.”

After winning her first individual long track medal at the Foro Italico on Friday night, Gose was celebrated by the team. “We had a photo shoot, everyone was there and clapped for me,” she reported, “that makes you particularly happy.”

Julia Mrozinski also qualified as 13th for the second round in the evening, as did Johanna Roas as tenth over 50 m backstroke. In contrast, Björn Kammann (Hamburg) retired as 27th over 100 m butterfly. Zoe Vogelmann reached the final over 400 m individual medley as a substitute in ninth place, while Giulia Goerigk (Karlsruhe) failed in the heat as 15th.
