Gorillaz: Netflix cancels film project about Damon Albarn’s virtual band

Damon Albarn explained in an interview that the production of the originally planned Gorillaz film for Netflix has been cancelled. The reason for this is cuts by the streaming provider so that there is no oversupply, as well as personnel changes.

“The streaming platform we wanted to make the film for backed out. They panicked because they produced too much content and wanted to reduce film deals,” he told Belgian magazine “humor“. “And, as has been the case in Hollywood for decades, the guy we were working with has moved to another company. And then you lose your guardian angel and it seems like you have some kind of bad reputation attached to you. The Gorillaz and their fans can now fully concentrate on the new album. CRACKER ISLAND is out on Friday (February 24). On February 8, they released the music video for the single, “Silent Running,” featuring singer Adeleye Omotayo.
