Gore-Tex’s children’s division is now offering a rental service for functional children’s winter jackets. The offer is aimed at children between the ages of five and ten.

The jackets are waterproof, windproof, breathable and warming. They are designed to be extremely durable and easy to repair so that they can be used over multiple cycles of use.

The rental model is based on a membership that starts with a term of three months and can then be flexibly extended or terminated. The monthly contribution is 25 euros per jacket. This includes repair protection, a free exchange service if you change size or want a different style, as well as shipping for delivery and returns. Up to four jackets are offered per year to match the season. “For parents, this means significant time and cost savings because the usual resale process is no longer necessary. At the same time, the lifespan of the jackets is extended, resulting in less waste and conserving resources,” says Gore’s press release.

The rental service is starting as a pilot project in Germany and, if successful, will also be implemented in other markets.
