Gordon’s contract with SBS 6 has finally ended

The flag can be raised: Gordon’s five-year mega contract with Talpa expired last night. Does that mean his TV exit? “The return it yields for the channel is simply too low.”

Gordon leaves Talpa with dissatisfaction: he already announced in April that he would be leaving today, December 1, due to the expiration of his contract. He admitted that he was at odds with John de Mol and that he therefore put him on the penalty bench. John will therefore also fly the flag today, thinks Johan Derksen. “What else do you want with that guy?”

Negative Gordon

The expiration of Gordon’s contract was the opening news of last night Show news. “We start with Gordon, because in an hour his contract with Talpa expires and for the first time in 21 years he no longer has a permanent TV contract,” said presenter Airen Mylene.

Viewing authority Tina Nijkamp says in a video that Gordon will probably not get a contract anywhere again. “You already see a trend in the TV world that fewer and fewer presenters actually get a permanent contract for many years and it becomes extra difficult for Gordon because he always speaks quite negatively about his employer.”

Sensitive blow

Perhaps he can join the NPO, says Tina. “What I do believe in for Gordon is a documentary series at the NPO about things he has experienced himself. His own experiences. Of course he has been through quite a lot, including many unpleasant things.”

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker thinks that this is a boast about that flag. “He calls it that and he flirts with it a bit, but Gordon is also a very emotional person. I can imagine after so much time at one channel and also with John de Mol, who is of course a real intimate of his… Yes, that is quite a blow for him.”

Efficiency

Guido also thinks that Gordon will definitely no longer receive a contract in the Dutch TV world. “I don’t think that’s going to happen anymore. The return it yields for the channel is simply too low.”

He is indeed a difficult man, he agrees. “He is quite sensitive, but he also had moods. Sometimes he was really hysterical, other times very sweet and I think that also shot him in the foot a bit.”

Burger joint closed

Fortunately, Gordon still has his catering tents in Amsterdam. Or not? Private boss Evert Santegoeds in the podcast Strictly Private: “Coincidentally, someone I know cycled past The Burger Room near those museums on Wednesday evening and it was closed, so I don’t know how things are going with Gordon’s business adventures.”

“No more contract with Talpa and a closed Burger Room is not in itself a good sign…”
