Gordon’s comeback not a hit according to Tina Nijkamp: ‘This is very low’

Gordon’s comeback is not exactly a ratings hit yet, says ratings authority Tina Nijkamp. How did his performance in Verborgen Verleden score? “Very dramatic, phew.”

It seems that Gordon no longer has a good sense of what TV viewers expect from him. His comeback on television after the drama with his ex-boyfriend Gavin Rozario was a three-stage rocket: first he performed with a new hairstyle in a MAX Christmas concert broadcast in the afternoon, then he appeared in Casa di Beau and last weekend in Verborgen Past.

Three-stage rocket

According to friend and foe, with his performance in Beau van Erven Dorens’ show, Gordon has smashed his own glasses, because he said really reprehensible things about Gavin. It was all so low to the ground that it even damaged Beau’s career, because he let it all happen without question.

Gordon already shed a tear in Casa di Beau, and last weekend he was crying again on TV, this time in Verborgen Verleden. What made him so emotional? The discovery that his ancestors were also musical, just like him.

Not a banger

Are the TV judges just waiting to dig into Gordon’s family tree? Tina Nijkamp, the television ratings authority of the Low Countries, has the answer. “After the much-discussed interview in Casa di Beau, Gordon was a guest in Verborgen Verleden on NPO 2 on Saturday. Unfortunately, this was not a linear ratings hit.”

How many people watched it then? She writes on her analysis channel: “Gordon scored 104,000 viewers less than Raven van Dorst last week and reached 428,000 viewers. Even a dramatic score in the commercial target group: 2.2 percent. Oof. That is very low and it is even the lowest score in that target group of the entire top 60 on Saturday.”

Return?

For clients such as RTL and Talpa, the popularity of a celebrity in the commercial target group is by far the most important, so this score is quite a setback for Gordon. What should happen next with him?

Tina: “When will we see Gordon on TV again somewhere? Would recommend a documentary-style series to him. Coach in The Voice and panel of Ik Hou Van Holland or something like that is not possible, I think.”

Self-mockery

Gordon has been under contract with SBS 6 for the past five years and Tina previously estimated that he earned around nine thousand euros per year there. A permanent contract will no longer be possible for him for the time being, previously analyzed.

The main reasons for this? “Gordon hasn’t presented ratings hits for many years and he likes to argue with everyone far too much. And then Gordon is also expensive.”
