Gordon working at Radio 10? ‘What! This seems impossible to me…’

It sounds like complete nonsense: according to radio columnist Patrick Kicken, Gordon is in the running to do the Radio 10 morning show. “But that seems really impossible to insiders.”

It is John de Mol’s largest radio station: the golden-oldies station Radio 10. The departure of Gerard Ekdom is quite a blow to the station. Who can follow in his footsteps? Gordon, radio columnist Patrick Kicken has heard. “This certainly comes from a source who has been right more than once in the past.”

Gordon to Radio 10?

Patrick judges it as a reliable rumor, he writes in his Speaking tube-column. But Gordon and John just broke up after a huge argument, right? Goor shouted that he would fly the flag when his contract with Talpa had finally expired, because John could not stand his criticism and had therefore put him on the reserve bench.

“But as is often the case in the media world: if you need each other, all is forgiven and forgotten,” says Patrick. “Radio 10 is John de Mol’s favorite child and it needs a powerhouse in the morning if the station does not want to lose out to direct competitors JOE, Radio 5 and Radio Veronica.”

Eyebrows

Entertainment expert Bart Ettekoven thinks it is a very strange story, he says Show news. “That raises some eyebrows, because we all know that he left Talpa last year with a lot of fanfare. The chance that he would return to Talpa… A lot of insiders say: ‘That seems impossible to me.’”

“We all know how he is at the moment… He has spoken quite negatively about John de Mol, he never wanted to work for that man again, the flag went up when his contract expired. That he would come back home so soon after the end of that contract… Anyway, the miracles are not over yet.”

Well informed

Bart doesn’t rule it out completely. “Patrick Kicken is usually well informed. It would be the surprise of the year if Gordon were indeed to return to radio, a place where he has had a lot of success in the past.”

Talpa says that she does not want to respond to the rumors, but according to Bart that does not mean much. “They like speculation.”

No success

In any case, it is a very bad idea, thinks media expert Ron Vergouwen. “I asked Gordon at the Press Tribune if he would like to make radio again and he would indeed very much like to do so. But I doubt whether the listener will embrace him en masse,” he writes X.

And DJ Eric van Kleef: “If you’re not wrong, it won’t be a success. Gordon is a damaged brand with very little goodwill.”
