‘Gordon receives 8,500 euros from BNNVARA for ticket in first class’

Gordon has received 8,500 euros from BNNVARA to fly to the Netherlands in first class for the recordings of the TV program Boerderij van Dorst. That is what the stars of Shownieuws report.

It will not have escaped anyone’s attention that Gordon now lives in Dubai. He flies to the Netherlands every now and then to do all kinds of TV jobs here. For example, he recently had recordings for the TV program Farm Van Dorst, in which he can soon be seen with singer Anouk. BNNVARA had to dig deep into its pockets for that, Shownieuws knows.

8.500 euros

According to the program, Gordon has let himself be celebrated by the public broadcaster. “Gordon is participating in a BNNVARA program, but you know that that broadcaster has cost a lot,” Tooske Ragas said in the show section yesterday.

Colleague Bart Ettekoven: “Yes, he came to the Netherlands for a reason. 8,500 euros of our tax money!”

According to Bart, a ticket in first class was paid for Gordon from this amount, so that he could fly luxury from Dubai to the Netherlands. “That is quite a hefty price for having someone fly in for a TV program, especially if it concerns BNNVARA. That is taxpayers’ money and they should also pay attention to the little ones.”

BNNVARA responds

Bart thinks it’s dubious. “We did call BNNVARA to ask: gosh, what about that? Can you just spend unlimited amounts of that kind of money?”

BNNVARA says: “Gordon came to the Netherlands, among other things, for the recordings of Boerderij van Dorst. As he often does, because he lives in Dubai and works in the Netherlands. The costs incurred for this fall within the program budget and we account for this every year in our annual report.”

Patty critical

Patty Brard finds it strange that the NPO is depositing this money. “Actually, I think it is a bit dubious about the NPO.”

Bart: “Yes, I think it’s quite an expense.”

On the other hand, according to Shownieuws, it is also difficult for Gordon if he has to fly between ordinary people in economy class. Bart: “It would also be strange, because he also flies business or first class privately, so it would be strange if you had to come for a TV program and then sit on the wrong side of the curtain.”

Sandra Schuurhof: “He doesn’t have a life in that plane, does he?”

Evert San Credits: “Well, Patty flies to and from Ibiza fourteen times a year with Transavia and she likes to take a picture with everyone. It’s all how you deal with it.”

‘Lots of money’

Evert thinks it is too much money to fly Gordon to the Netherlands. “I think 8,500 euros to have Gordon in this program while there are still guests here… I think it’s a lot of money, let’s keep it at that.”

Perhaps an intermediate step, in business class, would have been more appropriate, according to Sandra. “That’s cheaper again.”

Shownieuws has been calling around a lot. Not only to BNNVARA and producer Witte Geit, but also to the Media Authority. Evert: “They indicate that the budget must always be effective and if they think Gordon should be part of that program, then it is already effective.”

Gordon has not yet responded to the criticism of Shownieuws.
