Gordon Ramsay will receive compensation of more than 4 million euros, after a judge ruled in his favor in a case against his former business partner Rowen Seibel. TV chef Ramsay was charged by Seibel in 2014, but the judge ruled that Seibel was not a reliable witness, who only presented fabricated evidence. This reports Page Six†
As a result of this ruling, Seibel has to pay hefty damages to Ramsay, plus the lawyer’s fees that the television chef has incurred in recent years.
Ramsay (55) and Seibel (40) opened the restaurant The Fat Cow in Los Angeles in 2012. When they were forced to close in 2014, Seibel claimed that Ramsay had deliberately failed to build the brand. In addition, the British chef would have joined forces with other parties to continue the restaurant under a different name.
According to Ramsay, the case was very different and it was Seibel who was “totally unbelievable”. “Seibel has only thought of himself and tried to capitalize on the brand name Ramsay has carefully built over the years. He was a very bad manager, dishonest, incapable and lied about everything that was loose. We had no choice but to expected,” Ramsay’s lawyers said.
Seibel’s legal team has said it will appeal.
