Called Canada’s national treasure, Lightfoot was at the peak of his popularity in the 70s and he even made it to the charts in the United States.
Known as one of the most significant influences in folk music, Lightfoot was known as a hard-working gigger, and he was seen on gig stages even at the beginning of this year.
The death of 84-year-old Lightfoot was announced by his publicist. The cause of death is currently unknown.
His other well-known songs were Read My Mind and Sundown.
