Rogier van der Linden, who almost became Gordon’s husband in the program Gordon Goes Marrying, will not get his own show on television. “I no longer actively pursued it.”

The Leiden catering entrepreneur Rogier van der Linden revealed in December 2017, when he was on RTL Late Night with Gordon, that he would receive a similar program as Gordon Goes Marriage. “There are a few parties that have approached me if I want to do something for television.”

Erland gone

Rogier was hard to beat from the media for a few weeks. At one point he shouted that they are also a fan of his in Belgium. Of course Roger was in no time completely forgotten again. Still, six months later, he called out that RTL and SBS would compete for him. “I get a lot of offers, including from RTL and SBS.”

After four years we can conclude that it was all hot air. “At the time, I was in conversation with Erland Galjaard for a new program, who was still the program director of RTL Nederland at the time,” he now tells the Party. “He was interested, but in the end he went to work for SBS 6 just like Gordon.”

Dead end

As a result, it has come to a dead end, according to Rogier. “At that time I was working on a second child and that took priority for me. So I am no longer actively pursuing those TV plans.”

What did RTL 4 want with him then? “They wanted a sequel to Gordon Goes Marrying, but with me as the main character. I would be the man who went looking for a partner. What RTL 4 also found interesting was my family situation as a gay man with children. And so there are many families in the Netherlands that deviate from the norm.”

Gordon

Does Roger ever have contact with Gordon? “Recently he was in the Netherlands for four days. I was supposed to come and see his new house in Amsterdam, but I had corona. I am now finally recovered. But if Gordon is in the Netherlands, we will meet.”

And with Manuel, the Italian steward who was in the final with us? “I only have very occasional contact with him. Via Facebook or Instagram, but also an occasional message via WhatsApp.”
