Gordon after five years away from SBS 6, says it is his own decision

Gordon leaves SBS 6 after a period of five years. He says he has decided not to renew his exclusive contract with the family channel. “The flag can go out on December 1.”

It is 2018 when John de Mol stands at the exit of the RTL building with a rattling wallet. He tries to smoke out the competitor by stealing star after star. The men of Today Inside, Johnny de Mol, Linda de Mol, Wendy van Dijk; one by one they are tempted with a more lucrative paycheck.

Sixteen flops

Gordon also went for the axe, but that transfer to SBS 6 did not turn out to be very successful for him; colleague Gerard Joling did not go along. Since then, the number of Gordon flops has been hard to keep up with, says critic Victor Vlam. He listed them a few months ago. “There are already sixteen!” he shouted.

Not only Victor, but also Evert Santegoeds therefore indicated that they did not believe in a contract extension for Gordon. “Well, not under the current conditions, I think. A presenter who hints that he is done with the Netherlands… Yes, if he is done with us, why do I still have to watch him?”

Gordon leaves

Gordon now talks in front of the camera The Telegraph that he will stop at SBS 6 on December 1. “I have already bought the flag,” he says.

What he’s going to do? “Nothing. I want to take it easy for now. I will no longer make any commitments to anyone. I want to continue working on a freelance basis. I will also be 55 this year, won’t I?

The reporter on duty: “That’s not even 67.”

Gordon: “I know. I have lots of great ideas and new plans and fun things that I want to develop myself. That’s what I’m telling you: on December 1, the flag will go out for me.

Own decision?

The question is, of course, whether this is Gordon’s own decision. After all, if a TV star’s contract is not renewed, it is good practice that he or she can decide for himself how this will be communicated. After all, a voluntary departure is better for your image than a forced departure.

Johan Derksen thinks it’s good news anyway, he says at the table Inside today. “There is another one who is flying the flag and that could be John de Mol. They’re glad they got rid of that prankster, man. What else do you want with that guy?”

Crying my eyes out

Gordon no longer supplies, says Johan. “When was the last time Gordon made a fun program? That was with Joling. I had to laugh terribly at that. I have been laughing with tears.”

Voluntarily or not: nobody will be very sad about his departure at SBS 6. And Gerard Joling? He will laugh up his sleeve that Gordon turns out to be unsuccessful without him for the umpteenth time. The singer announced this week that he would not be at Goor’s upcoming wedding. Why not? He already has a funeral.

Gordon: “I’m not going to say anything about that. No.”
