Gooise Hangijzers: ‘Wijdemeren could continue independently, but that would be very difficult’

If Wijdemeren does not find a suitable merger partner, independence is still an option. But that will be a very tough one. This was said by councilor Gert Zagt during the first talk show Gooise Hangijzers, in which the exploration of a municipal merger was the topic of discussion at the table in Studio Mediaplein.

In addition to the director, residents and entrepreneurs Hetty Kastelein and Steven Voorn and Noor de Bruin of the ‘s-Graveland World Heritage Foundation shed their light on the municipality’s intended intention to merge. Opinions are quite divided about why it would be better for Wijdemeren to merge with another municipality or municipalities and how this should be done.

Ugly?

What price has already been paid to get the finances back in order? Why is official cooperation such as that of Blaricum, Eemnes and Laren not possible? Who is the best merger partner? What should really be included in the dowry and why is Wijdemeren not an ‘ugly bride’ at all? Is the coming consultation a wash? Questions, answers and solutions here and there were all discussed.

NH and NH Gooi produce a talk show every month from the Hilversum studio with topics for involved residents. The next broadcast is on March 28.
