Google presents new devices at I/O Event 2023

Google’s first foldable phone arrives, along with a tablet again after a nearly nine-year hiatus. And let’s not forget: A cheaper variant of the smartphone Pixel 7. Here are the details.

Google is expanding its range of devices with a folding smartphone and a tablet. In addition, as usual, the Pixel 7a is a slimmed-down version of the smartphone flagship from the previous year. So far, Samsung is the clear number one for foldable smartphones. Now the South Korean group is getting competition from Google. The Pixel Fold can be unfolded into a tablet with a display diagonal of 7.6 inches, as the group announced at the Google I/O 2023 developer conference.

Pixel Fold with Tensor G2 as processor

This means that the screen in tablet mode is just as large as that of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. When folded, you can use the 5.8-inch front display. The Pixel Fold is powered by Google’s Tensor G2 processor, which is also found in the Pixel 7.

Two apps can be operated side by side in split-screen mode on the unfolded screen. The front display can also be used when it is folded out. This allows, for example, to take a selfie with the higher quality of the front camera.

Or you can display translations for both conversation partners at the same time in a conversation in foreign languages. The Pixel Fold is now available for pre-order and should be available from June, according to Google on the I/O 2023 has announced. The price in Germany is 1899 euros.

The new Pixel Tablet with a display diagonal of 11 inches also runs with a G2 processor. Google has also come up with something to take advantage of the tablet when it’s not in your hand: a charging dock with a speaker.

The tablet can then be used for smart home control, among other things. Together with the dock, the Pixel Tablet costs 679 euros in the version with 128 gigabytes of memory, with 256 GB 799 euros are due. It should be available on the market from the end of June.
