Google pays users of its new service generously – “A journalist’s worst nightmare”

Google pays news outlets big bucks if they publish news stories generated by its AI tool.

The technology giant Google is said to pay up to a five-figure sum a year to organizations that test use its yet-to-be-released artificial intelligence tool.

The editorials, of which there are only a handful so far, commit to using the platform for a year and using it to publish three artificial intelligences per day. In return, Google requests analytics information about the performance of the contents.

The tool is aimed especially at smaller media with limited journalistic resources.

This is how the platform works

The platform, which is still in closed test use, is said to collect bulletins and other freely available publications from around the internet in one news view.

With the press of a button, the user can create a new version of the article he wants, generated by artificial intelligence, after which the creation of artificial intelligence can be edited, if necessary, before publication.

So in practice, Google pays editors to create news content using its tools, which is exceptional compared to traditional journalism.

“High-quality journalistic content”

According to Google, it develops its tool responsibly, and it strongly denies that the operating model is based on stealing the work done by others.

– The purpose is to help small local publishers create high-quality journalistic content from publicly available sources, a Google representative stated to the US-based Gizmodo.

The technology giant, on the other hand, assures that its purpose is not to replace real journalists or journalism, and that the tool could not.
