Good news for BVB

Ex-PSV professional Donyell Malen is likely to be available for Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League round of 16 first leg in Eindhoven.

The Dutchman has recovered from his knee problems and feels “much better,” reported coach Edin Terzic before the duel on Tuesday (9 p.m./Prime Video) in the sold-out Philips Stadium. But the decision will be made on match day.

Terzic wants to find the right tactical balance for the leaders of the Dutch league (20 wins from 22 games). “Possession of the ball or counterattack football – we need both,” he said on Monday: “We are looking forward to the challenge and are very motivated.”

BVB is way behind in the Bundesliga, but they impressed in the Champions League – but why? “This is the question we hear most often, and it bothers us the most,” said Terzic. He personally makes no distinction between the competitions, only “between winning and losing”.

BVB immediately analyzed the disappointing league game at VfL Wolfsburg (1:1) intensively. “It was a long and unsatisfactory bus ride back to Dortmund,” reported Terzic. “We want to do better here.”
