In the seventh month of 2022, registrations of new cars amounted to 109,580, from the beginning of the year they are 805,241, equal to a decrease of 20% on 2021. All data divided by users, power supplies and manufacturers
The long slowdown in registrations of new cars seems to give up slightly, after having slowed down in June, the contraction seems to stop in July with a figure that is just close to that of the same month of 2021. In all, 109,580 new car plates in the July, 0.8% less than the 111,815 recorded a year earlier when the global automotive market began to feel the effects of the so-called “microchip crisis” which limited (and is still limiting) production. Therefore, only if in the coming months the balance returns positive we could think of a trend reversal. In the meantime, we have to deal with a 2022 that has so far recorded 805,241 new registrations against 1,005,050 in the first seven months of 2021.
REGISTRATION DATA
–
Speaking of user categories, private customers remain the most representative with 62,630 registrations in July, albeit down by 9%. It is the rental figures that make the market catch up: the long term with 23,440 marks a robust + 20%, the short term at 8,726 (+ 75%) benefits from the recovery in tourism. There was also a slight increase in registrations to companies, with an encouragement of + 2.7%.
FULL HYBRID AT THE TOP, ELECTRIC STRIKES
–
By shifting the focus on fuel systems, I take a breath from those of petrol cars: 33,200 in July with a growth of 9%. The others go against the trend with diesel at 22,967 (-10%), LPG 8,769 (-6%) and methane 682 (-69%). On the front of electrified engines, the positive data comes only from full hybrids, the 36,841 registrations are worth to the category the crown of choice preferred by Italian motorists. Despite the incentives still fully operational, the electric ones place only 3,617 (-29%), not much better than the plug-in hybrids with 5,133 (-19%).
