Good friend of missing Sanne: ‘I refuse to believe that she is dead’

Mark Deckers from Nuenen has been completely through it since he heard on Monday that one of the most important people in his life, Sanne Bos, is missing. Since then, he has not slept a wink, because his best friend (26) and Hebe (10) must be found. “I refuse to believe she’s dead.”

A phone call from Hebe’s mother on Monday turned his life upside down. ‘Where is Sanne?’ it sounded. Earlier that day, the 26-year-old counselor from Den Bosch had picked up Hebe, a girl with a disability who needs 24-hour care, in Raamsdonkveer.

“You are devastated by this news.”

Sanne was supposed to take Hebe to her house in Vught, but they never arrived there. There is no trace of the pair, and of the black Kia Picanto in which they drove. “You are devastated. You are devastated by this news”, Mark reacts emotionally.

He got to know Sanne twelve years ago through a foundation that is committed to children and young people with disabilities. Since then, the two have shared joys and sorrows with each other. “After my wife and children, she is the most important person in my life.”

“I won’t stop looking until we find her.”

The loss takes its toll, physically and mentally. “I haven’t been home, I haven’t slept. I won’t stop looking until we find her. She’s my everything.”

Sanne and Hebe are being sought in several places in Brabant, but without success. Mark is still in the dark about what exactly happened. “She may have accidentally run off a slope and be in distress. Or they may have been taken by someone. But I refuse to believe she is no longer alive.”
