The North Holland Dune Reserve is suffocating with blackberries. The blackberry year has been excellent, and you can pick them in the dunes – only in August. And there is even a choice: do you want dewberries or blueberries?
“The blackberry is nature’s candy”, says forester Ronald Slingerland of PWN. You can go off the paths before picking, but stick to a few game rules: do not pick kilos, do not disturb nature and do not enter the parts where visitors are already prohibited. And after August? Then the blackberries are reserved. “It’s food for the migratory birds.”
