Golfer Lars van Meijel does better than Tiger Woods

Before the start of the second day of the British Open, golfer Lars van Meijel from Best is in good shape. After the first 18 holes he had a score of +2. A lot better than the renowned Tiger Woods who finished at +6. It is the 150th time that the British Open has been organized.

Lars van Meijel qualified for the world famous tournament at St. Andrews via the qualification. After the first day, he was 74th out of 156 participants.

Earlier this week, 28-year-old Van Meijel trained on the ‘sacred’ jobs. Before the practice rounds, players have to enter their name on the start list so that the spectators know approximately where the players are in the course. And he did that very thoughtfully, he told golf.nl. “I’ll put myself with the beautiful names of course.”

“I have never played in a tournament with all these world top players.”

It has not yet come to a meeting with Tiger Woods. “I saw Tiger for the first time today. When I played hole 18, the former winners were photographed to the left of the green before the Champions dinner. That was obviously not a good time to approach Tiger.”

Van Meijel was modest about his ambitions against golf.nl. “Getting the cut is already a good result of course, but my game feels good so maybe there is more to it. A place in the top 20 would be very nice. But I’ve never played in a tournament with all these world-class players, which makes it difficult to estimate my chances. In any case, I will do everything I can and certainly try to enjoy it.”
