Golfer Besseling sinks at US Open after difficult third round | NOW

Wil Besseling dropped in the US Open standings on Saturday. The 36-year-old golfer recorded a mediocre third round on the very difficult course of the Country Club in the US state of Massachusetts.

Besseling had five bogeys and one double bogey in Brookline for a round of 77 strokes (7 over par). The Dutchman stands at a total of 219 (+9) after three of the four days.

The world’s number 255 makes his major debut this week, the four biggest tournaments in golf. He made a good impression on Thursday and Friday with two rounds of 71 strokes (+1).

With that, Besseling was in joint fortieth place halfway through, more than enough to make the cut and be allowed to come back in the weekend. Due to his lesser third round, he is currently joint 59th, together with former US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau from the United States.

The top players have yet to complete their third round. The Americans Joel Dahmen and Collin Marikawa were in the lead after two days with a score of -5.
