Golf, US Open – Duo ahead before last round

The Young Stars Matthew Fitzpatrick (27) from England and Will Zalatoris (25) from the USA before the final of the 122. US Open in Brookline the best chances of their first win at a major-Competition.

The two golf pros got on best on the third day with the difficult course conditions in the Country Club outside of Boston rightly so.

With each having 206 strokes Fitzpatrick and Zalatoris one stroke ahead of the defending champion Jon Rahm (207) from Spain.

Scheffler and McIlroy with connection

The world number one and Masters winner Scottie Scheffler (208) from USA and Northern Ireland’s golf star Rory McIlroy (209) are still close to the top.

“I felt like I played a 61”said Zalatoris after his 67 round. “Every time I made a mistake, I could fix it or do something wonderful.”

Morikawa falls far behind

The strong wind, the tall, thick grass off the fairways and the lightning-fast greens of the difficult par 70 course made even some of the best players in the world despair. The two-time Major winner Collin Morikawa from the USA, who had led the field after two rounds, needed 77 strokes on Saturday (local time) and fell back to tied 17th place.
