As of: 06/17/2022 11:27 p.m

Scottie Scheffler has meanwhile secured the lead in the second round of the US Open.

The American world number one and Masters winner needed 67 strokes for the 18 holes and was three strokes under par. Scheffler was on Friday evening (June 17th, 2022) German time on par with his compatriot Nick Hardy with 137 strokes.

Mickelson with a disappointing performance

Adam Hadwin from Canada suffered a setback: The underdog had been in the lead after the first lap, but fell behind Scheffler and Hardy due to a lap of 72.

Phil Mickelson showed another disappointing performance. The six-time major champion, who recently caused controversy over his participation in the new Saudi-sponsored golf series, played a round of 73 and has 151 shots.

Split by LIV-Tour characterizes the tournament

The US Open is all about the divided world of golf. After the PGA made good on its threat last week and initially banned 17 participants of the controversial Saudi Tour LIV from their competitions, the renegade professionals are part of the third major of the year.
