After a strong comeback, Rory McIlroy took the PGA Tour Championship title and pocketed $18 million in prize money.
After 2016 and 2019, the Northern Irishman was the first golfer to win the final tournament of the top 30 professionals for the third time FedExCup-Ranking. With 21 strokes under par, McIlroy was only one stroke ahead of the American in Atlanta Scottie Scheffler and South Korean Sungjae Im, who tied for second place.

Before the fourth and final round had McIlroy still six strokes behind the top seed Scottie Scheffler located. Scheffler however, blundered with a round of 73. With 66 strokes in the fourth round and previously only 63 strokes in the third round, he succeeded McIlroy the catch-up.
McIlroy’s win also marks a dispute between the PGA and the LIV Tour
“It’s a turbulent time for men’s golf right now. I try to defend what I believe is the best place to play top golf at every opportunity‘ McIlroy said of his title win.
The Northern Irishman is considered a great advocate of the PGA tour. Several other top golfers have joined the Saudi Arabia-sponsored LIV tournament series and are suing the PGA tour filed after being suspended.
