Eugenio Lopez Chacarra was the best Spaniard with a card of 66 strokes, two under par, while his compatriot Sergio Garcia signed the pair. The Mexicans Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz finished the first day with one under par (69 strokes).

Cameron Smith, the highest-ranked player in the world ranking (2) who competes in an LIV tournament, also debuted this Friday with a card of 64 strokes, six under par. The recent British Open winner boasts eight professional titles, including The Players Championship earlier this year.

The Boston tournament runs until next Sunday.
