The women’s fashion retailer Madeleine has found a new owner in the Goldner Fashion Group.
The Madeleine brand and online shop will continue to operate under the umbrella of the company, which includes the best-ager brand Atelier Goldner, the law firm Schultze & Braun, which has supported Madeleine in its previous restructuring efforts, announced on Monday. After a “short renovation break”, Madeleine has been available to customers again with its own online shop since January 8th.
In addition to the trademark rights and the domain of the online shop, those involved also negotiated the acquisition of the warehouse. These were “successfully completed”. It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
“The Madeleine brand is a logical extension of our high-quality women’s fashion business and part of our strategic growth initiative,” Marcus Anton, CEO of the Goldner Fashion Group. “Madeleine will be managed as an independent brand within our brand portfolio and will build on past successes with its unique aesthetic and style. She will benefit from the Goldner Fashion Group’s established infrastructure and operational services.”
Out for Madeleine Mode GmbH
Meanwhile, no investor solution could be found for Madeleine Mode GmbH, which is why the company was closed at the end of last year as planned.
“Unfortunately, despite all efforts, it was not possible to continue the company economically and maintain jobs. As hard as it may sound at first, even in such a case, it is our job to raise as much money as possible so that the creditors’ claims can be served in the best possible way. We succeeded in this by selling the company’s tangible and intangible assets,” said Daniela Angerer, Managing Director of Madeleine Mode GmbH and Detlef Specovius from Schultze & Braun.
Without investors, Madeleine Mode GmbH lacked the financial resources to continue from the time the self-administration proceedings were opened, according to the statement. This resulted in all employees being laid off. “A majority” of the approximately 200 employees had already been laid off on November 1st.
